Stardom Dream Queendom 2025 + World's End
Dream Queendom, besides the fact little happened and the booking was safe, was... a real solid show with some great matches up and down the card, but two really stick out for me.
Natsupoi vs Sareee
The best dier tries to take down the best murderer (thanks, Karami).
Perfect synergy. Natsupoi in particularly has to be one of the "Best Wrestlers who Isn't Treated or Booked like a Best Wrestler". And somehow this can't be helped. She is permanently, an inescapably the underdog, and that's what makes the little brat so endearing.
Meanwhile Sareee looks like she has the eyes of a shark. A woman who probably never has found a dog cute, let alone a tsundere little fairy brat. Yet we see that's not true, and it rules.
Saori vs Saya Kamitani for the World of Stardom Title
Girls rock. The biggest struggle of the match is believing Saori has a chance, but it is sold -- both in action, and in Saya's response to that action -- as if she does. Saya is scared, having to do battle with a fightdrunk woman who treats being kicked in the face as enrichment.
... And they just beat the ever loving shit out of each other. Sometimes for me a 5 Star match is a story coming together with the perfect performance, or a sublime technical display... or sometimes it's just two dumb women kicking each other in the head while embodying everything that makes the two of them great performers. Like Kenta Kobashi vs Kensuke Sasaki, only for CTE.
Saori's entrance gear rocks, but I will forever mourn the loss of the Slutty Cravat.
World's End
Was fiiiine??? AEW shows are always good, but at a certain point, at the pace they go, "good" becomes routine. I left World's End not feeling much. I don't care for MJF as champion, though he will likely be in the only title feud I can care about him being in (with Hangman). Everything was good, and even the match I have here I feel like I'm not being generous enough to. But I look at it and go "Was this better, for me personally, than Natsupoi vs Saree" and the answer is.. no?
Moxley vs Fletcher, Continental Classic Semi Finals
Sometimes a match is just good. Two kinds of uniquely sexual men have a fun, desperate struggle with obvious stakes and while nothing in particular stands out... shit was just good?
This was the best match on the show for me, even though I feel a lot of stuff was almost as good, but... I don't know, I just don't know. Though I will say, Moxley is always the Actual Ace of AEW.
