Missing Mina

I resent the gravitational pull of western wrestling. Mina's not even gone yet and I'm still gutted that Mina is leaving for AEW. It's not like they don't treat her great, but great on US Television wrestling is still sparse and mediocre.

... and I like AEW, but I don't like television. Recorded live wrestling, for the crowd has so much more soul, especially outside of the US. I like the wrestlers within AEW, I like that they get paid well, I like that Mina is going to pay well, but watching matches struggle to fit the TV commercial format, seeing western wrestling style storylines... seeing people vanish for weeks on end...

It sucks. I hate it. The worst wrestling I have consistently watched throughout my entire life has been wrestling made for cable/network television. The only real exception is Lucha Underground, which had a lot of the same problems, but at least maximized the strengths.

I love that AEW giving me girls kissing girls. I love all the stuff with Mariah and Toni, but my feelings have been the same the whole time. While great, it is still a story of cartoon emotions, with little room for subtly or rich, complicated feelings. There is more than most TV Wrestling, which stands it above everything around it besides maybe everything that goes around Adam Page but... ugh. Mina will be over. She'll cute little promos, she'll flirt with girls... but this isn't the environment where I expect to see the Mina I really love and that makes me sad.

Ah well, get that bag.
